About
Reviews from someone who ships
Stack for Makers exists because most “best tools” lists are written by people who never opened the dashboard. This one isn't.
I build small SaaS apps and Chrome extensions on my own. That means I've personally wrestled with hosting bills, payment processors, database free tiers, transactional email deliverability, and registrar renewal traps — usually at 1am, with real money and real users on the line.
Every review here comes from that vantage point. I'm not ranking tools by who has the biggest affiliate payout. I'm telling you what I'd actually pick for a given project, and just as importantly, who should not pick it.
How we review
- Hands-on or it doesn't ship.If I haven't used a tool or set it up specifically to evaluate it, it doesn't get a verdict.
- Pricing is dated and verified.Plans change constantly. Every price is timestamped, and we tell you to confirm on the vendor's site before you commit.
- We lead with the downsides. Every tool — even the winner — gets its real weaknesses listed. A review with no cons is an ad.
- Recommendations map to scenarios.“Best” depends on what you're building. We say which tool wins for which kind of builder.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That revenue keeps the site independent and ad-free — but it never decides the rankings. We'd rather lose a commission than send you to the wrong tool. The full details live on our disclosure page.
